This long awaited release by Jim Flanagan contains a eclectic mix of songs in Irish and English, and provides a superb offering of traditional singing at its best. The fourteen tracks which make up the album are drawn from a variety of sources, and represent Jim's exceedingly varied repertoire of song styles and genres.
Like his first album, "Anso is Ansúd", "Blood Drops in Snow" features Jim's "old fashioned, highly ornamented style" on several unaccompanied tracks, with his sensitive guitar playing providing the backup on the remaining tracks. Unlike his first album, Jim is joined here by additional musicians: Don Penzien, Valerie Plested and Justin Murphy, who provide fiddle, flute, tin whistle, and harmony vocals on a number of songs.
